During the Craft and Quilt fair in Melbourne July 28th - 31st, Maricor/Maricar will be holding a series of different workshops that draw inspiration from our colourful, patterned and painterly approach to contemporary embroidery.
From Sweater Letter samplers to watercolour inspired embroidered sketches, each workshop explores a different design approach to embroidery. Our approach is often experimental, we like to think of our stitching style as ‘painting with thread’.
OUr workshops are perfect for beginners and can be tailored for more experienced stitchers. More information on each workshop can be found in the Workshop section of our website and we're taking pre-bookings through our Shop.
During the workshops they will demonstrate how they use watercolour as inspiration for embroidery designs, how working with pattern enables you to turn basic stitches into highly textured and dimensional embroidery. And finally in their embroidered lettering workshop you’ll stitch up a tongue in cheek design that subverts the stereotype of embroidery being stuffy and boring.
